Generally, at this time of year, families enrol students to start school next year or move into the next stage of schooling. While it is an exciting time for young people and their parents/carers, the Saver Plus program is here to support your school community with some of the costs involved.
The Saver Plus flyer is great for emailing to new parents/carers or including in info packs.
The program is open to eligible parents/carers all year, but we find it’s when these larger costs “Come up" that families start reaching out for support.
To join Saver Plus, you need to meet these requirements:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card
- Have a child in school, starting next year, or be studying
- yourself
- Get a regular income (can be you or your partner in paid work or child support/carers' payment)
- Agree to join in free online financial education workshops
What are the eligible savings goals?
Eligible savings goals are education-related products or services that:
Assist a primary/secondary school student’s education.
If families would like to check their eligibility and receive a call back, please include our enquiry link - Our Saver Plus financial literacy program (thesmithfamily.com.au), or they’re welcome to call our national number 1300 610 355, and a local coordinator will contact them directly.

- Boxing with Kyrow at Kangaroos Footy Club, Irene Street;
- Empower 2 Empower with Indianna, at Cairns West and Shang; and
- Craft for Hope starting this Wednesday from the Mooroobool Hub at 10am.

The Cairns Chess Club are running the 2025 Great Barrier Reef Chess Open on the weekend of 6 and 7 September 2025. This would be a great experience for any chess playing students (or their families) to participate in an Australian Chess Federation and Queensland Junior rated weekender tournament.

About Regional Queensland Football Club Ltd
Regional QLD FC is a Not-For-Profit Sporting club based in Mackay, Queensland. Our Focus is to develop Women and Girls in regional Queensland and provide an Elite pathway to A-League in regional QLD. The intent of this tournament is to
commence talent identification for a future A-League team in regional QLD. This tournament will occur annually and expand in age groups each year to follow this cohort of Girls through to their adult years.
