Executive Principal's Update
As we approach the home straight of Term 2, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication, hard work, and resilience everyone in our school has shown throughout the term. It’s been a busy and demanding few months, but now is the time to focus on finishing strong. By continuing to work together as a united Cairns State High School team, supporting one another, and maintaining our shared commitment to excellence and “being the best we can be”, we can ensure a positive and successful end to the term for all.
I feel privileged to be writing my second newsletter for the Cairns State High School community. It has been a rewarding experience to serve in this role, and I appreciate the ongoing support and engagement from staff, students, and families. Mr Zilm has decided to extend his leave until early in Term 4. During this time, I will continue in the role of Executive Principal and remain committed to ensuring stability, progress, and strong leadership for our school.
It never ceases to amaze me just how many varied and enriching opportunities our students are exposed to here at Cairns State High School. Every day, students share with me their excitement and pride in representing our school through these experiences. Their enthusiasm is a reflection of the vibrant and inclusive culture we continue to foster together.
Our school musical, Mamma Mia!, was absolutely fantastic. The talent, energy, and commitment shown by our students, staff and parent helpers made it a truly memorable production. If you didn’t get the chance to see it, you certainly missed out on a fabulous show! Congratulations to everyone involved—you should be incredibly proud of what you achieved. The performance was truly fantastic and a testament to what we can achieve when we come together.
Our school also recently excelled in CISSA (Cairns Interschool Secondary Sporting Association) sport this season, winning across a range of sports and participating in many finals whilst demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship. Our school took out 2nd overall Champion School, whilst being named 1st Girls Champion School and 2nd Boys Champion School. The spirit of the Bulldog was well and truly on display all afternoon, and it was fantastic to see our teams compete with passion, pride, and integrity. A huge thank you to the dedicated staff and students who contributed their time, energy, and effort to make the season such a success.

Let’s keep the momentum going and finish the term with purpose and pride.
Mr Frank Brunetto
Executive Principal
