Senior School Guidance Officer
Guidance Officers in the Senior School can support students with the following:
- Careers Information – QTAC
- Mental Health and Health concerns
- Grief and Loss
- Social and Emotional concerns
- Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments – to assessment (AARA)
Guidance Officers work from a recognise, respond and refer framework and will often recommend a medical follow up (GP appointment) to assess both physical and mental health.
Careers Information – QTAC (Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre)
Specific information on applying to university will commence in term three. QTAC presentations will be delivered to students in August. Students are required to attend these if they want a follow up appointment with the Guidance Officer. Appointments can be scheduled whilst students are attending school and all supporting documentation must be forwarded to the school prior to the end of Year 12.
AARA
If students have a diagnosis that impacts upon learning it is important to see the Guidance Officer as soon as possible to discuss. Supporting documentation is required for any AARA to be put in place. Please note that if you have a Mental Health diagnosis medical documentation is required within six months of the assessment/exam date.
Appointments
Please email the Guidance Officer if you require assistance and an appointment will be scheduled.
